A fantastic evening had by all at the social evening in April.

On Thursday 13th April over thirty people gathered at Swale Marina to enjoy a Fish and Chips Supper and to see some of the repair work being carried out on the Oyster Yawl 'Gamecock'.  We were given a tour in small groups by Shipwright Jim and Skipper Mark who explained the restoration work in progress.  The mast has had to be removed and also some planks due to rot.  Fortunately the frames all look okay.

Everyone had a very interesting and enjoyable evening and it was wonderful that about six members of the Stroud family came along to see 'Gamecock'.  These guests were connected to the boat through generations of fathers, uncles and grandfathers.  Some members of the Stroud family had never actually seen 'Gamecock' but had heard many stories.  It was an emotional evening for some people.

This social event was organised by Whitstable Maritime and generously hosted by Swale Marina owner Simon Smedley.

Thank you to our Members and Friends for coming and showing their continued support. If you are interested in joining to attend future events please get in touch.
